Being an internet marketer, there is a thought that I would like to share with my readers.

Everyone is entitled to his own opinion and I am voicing mine here.

One of the main sources of internet income is through affiliate marketing. A marketer puts his affiliate link on his website or blog and when a visitor buys something the website owner gets a commission. And the buyer doesn’t have to spend anything extra when he buys through an affiliate link.

A very simple and straightforward arrangement I would say, where everyone benefits.

By everyone I mean the seller, the buyer and the affiliate. The seller has made a sale, the buyer got information on a good product from the affiliate’s website and the affiliate earned a commission.

But it isn’t such a happy state of affairs all the time. Many internet marketers complain that though they have a large number of visitors, there are very few conversions. One reason could be that the visitor did not find anything that he needed, which is understandable.

There is another problem which is being  tossed about and that is, many visitors are wary about buying through an affiliate link without any good reason. They would rather go to the merchant’s site directly and buy there. Though it’s each person’s choice where he buys his stuff, my feeling is that among the internet marketing community there should be more co-operation and support.

What I mean is, though I am a marketer, if I deliberately avoid other affiliate links for my purchases, I shouldn’t expect my visitors to buy from my affiliate links either. So we end up with a lose-lose situation.

Wouldn’t it be nice if everyone bought from one another, so that they gain in the end through a win-win situation ?

I think it’s appropriate to quote the old saying, “What goes around comes around”. In other words, buy what you need through others’ affiliate links and they will buy from yours. And we will end up with everyone laughing all the way to the bank.
